Is FULLTEXT search possible after joining multiple tables?

Hello,

I have Customer information split in more than one tables, i.e. 1 table holds the Customer name, another table holds the customer addresses (as one Customer can have more than one address) and other tables holding phone numbers, and employees details.

My question is: can I join the tables and then perform a full text search? If yes, shall I first add a FULLTEXT index to all the tables included in the query?

May your queries run faster if you know the answer!
Manos._
