Number of records returned

I'm fixing some legacy asp (vbscript) code that had originally used the ADO recordcount property to count records returned from an Access db. Now that the data has been migrated to mySQL the recordset property seems broken.

Any clues on how to use ado.recordset other than the obvious looping through with a counter.
