read write contention split table

Hi,

I am creating wiki like software with threads that pertain to pages of the "base" documents. The topic threads table will have lots of inserts, changes, and reads, albeit more reads.

Wondering what to do to improve performance?

1) what isolation level -- integrity not important
2) innodb or myisam?
3) all queries, inserts, updates are by "pageindex". What if I split the table into K mirrors, get the pageindex modulux K, and use the appropriate mirror table. Will that help?

Andy
