is it possible to take selective backup of a table?

i have a mysql database on unix system and diferent schema in it .
each schema contains tables in it .and each table contains millions of record.

sugeest me best option of taking back up and
tell if it is possible to take selective back up of a table in a dtabase.

there are 100000 emp id.

i want to take back up of employee details or first 5000 employee.

tell if it is possible.
