MyISAM performance - reg

I would like to ask that can mysql handle 25,00,000 records of avg. size 200KB in one table. My table type is myisam.
How to increase the table scan performance. I have tried with options like read_buffer_size and read_rnd_buffer_size. But it is taking around 3 minutes for 1,50,000 records.

Also kindly suggest the best and fastest way to take backup of the full table.
Everyday the size of the table increased by 1.5GB.
