Conversion data error

Hi there,

I'm using both MS SQL Server and MySQL and often I need to import and export data between the servers or in/from Excel format I get from users.

As I have MS SQL client utilities, I use "Import and Export Data" utility to transfer files from one source to another. It is a great tool, as it can convert data from any ODBC source to any other one.

Unfortunatelly now I have problem. I reinstalled my computer, applied all the new versions and now when I want to transfer data from Excel sheet to MySQL, on text columns I get error:

TransformCopy 'DirectCopyXform' conversion error: General conversion failure n column pair 1 (Source column 'Code' (DBTYPE_WSTR) , destination column 'Code' (DBTYPE_STR)).

This also happens when I'm trying to transfer data from MS SQL Server to MySQL.

When I try to transfer data from Excel to MS SQL Server, I get no such error. I also get no such error when I transfer data from MySQL to MS SQL Server.

Does it have anything to do with the charsets? Does anyone know the solution?

In fact I do not resist on using "Import and Export Data" utility, I just need some good tool, to transfer data between ODBC sources.

I'm using:
SQL Server 2000 SP3a
MySQL 4.1.11

Thanx, Jan
