transparent/backend migration

Good day!
I really need your help.I'm having my thesis now and i'm planning of making a migration tool that is transparent to the frontend applications that is no changes should be made on these apps.Let's say i have a frontend application accessing the oracle server, then after all the data have been transferred/migrated to mySQL, no changes or re-engineering of the apps should be made. I'm planning of just fooling/tricking the frontend app that it was still connected to an oracle server, but infact to mySQL. It's like trapping all request/querries from that frontend app then translate it in mySQL forma then reply to that querry via its original connection.
But is this possible?
