Cardnality Problem

Hallo Community,
ich habe eine große Tabelle (>60.000.000 Einträge), deren cardinality (show index from ...) sporadisch falsch berechnet wird.
Normalerweise liegt der Wert im 7-stelligen Bereich, zwischendurch ist er unter 20, was zur Folge hat, dass der Index komplett ignoriert wird und Abfragen auf die Tabelle ewig brauchen bzw. manuell neu gestartet werden müssen.
MySql Version: 5.5.8, Engine: InnoDB
