Why is Create_time value not set for MEMORY tables?

I'm using memory tables instead of temporary tables because Ajax connections can't find temp tables created in other Ajax connections. That means I don't have automatic cleanup, so I'm trying to delete memory tables that have been there more than 24 hours. Unfortunately the create_time value in information_schema.tables is not being set for memory tables. Is there something I can do to force that it to be set?
