Fatal error: Can't open and lock privilege tables: Table 'mysql.host' doesn't exist

I have installed mysql 4.1.15 thru pkgadd on solaris 10, all goes fine until i try to start up using the install_mysql_db script --user=mysql and then the safe_mysqld --user=mysql

I get the error:
# more Felicia.err

and again this error when i use the mysqld --user=root
# bin/mysqld --user=root

please what do I need to do now to get the mysql server running??
