Yes. Try to start the server (with the "faulty" database), and then read the error log.

Every time you start / stop the server, it writes to the error log telling you what happened, good and bad.

The log might have several warnings and or errors for a particular start attempt, but while it is still making entries, it is still trying to start, until it hits something that will prevent it running at all.
When it finally gives up trying, it'll tell you why.
