Actually, the latest builds of 5.1 plus the new GIS code can be obtained from http://labs.mysql.com/ - just select "MySQL 5.1 GIS snapshots" from the dropdown list and you will see a source tarball plus some selected binary builds.

Holyfoot has recently merged this branch with the 5.1 code base, so they are now based on MySQL 5.1.43.

On a related note, there has been some progress with getting the GIS improvements committed into the main branches - I am currently pushing on getting the code accepted for the next MySQL 5.5.x "Celosia" mile stone.

Bye,
LenZ
