Slow Connection

I have a slow , very very slow connection to my MySQL server

I need some help people.

I will describe the system arquitecture.

Computer A: a WindowsXP SP2, running a client program wrote on C++Builder, that needs to connect to a MySQL server to receive some data

Computer B: a pc running Ubuntu 9.04, where the MySQL server is running in its 5.0 version.

When Computer A is trying to connect to Computer B, I mean, when my program thats running in Computer A , is trying to connect to the MySQL Server running in Computer B, ittakes a long time, maybe 30 seconds in a LAN, sometimes more.

I dont know whats wrong, I tested the exact same system using ALL WINDOWS, this means Computer A and Computer B running windows XP and the program connects to the server in 2 seconds or less.

When I make the MySQL Server run on linux platform, the connection from WindowsXP to Ubuntu, takesa lot of time.

Any suggestions ???? , something???????????
