Cluster across two datacenters

We are looking at implementing mySQL Clustering for failover but are not sure if this would work with our current configuration. We have two servers both co-located in different datacenters (one in Los Angeles, one in Las Vegas). Is this possible given the different geographic locations? Has anyone done this? If so, what issues have you had?
