The command RESET SLAVE will delete all the slave files that keep track of what log file on what server and other information. You will of course need to have the info in your my.cnf unless you do a CHANGE MASTER TO command after that. I believe you should be able to do RESET SLAVE and then START SLAVE right after that to work.
