This is really good info. Is there a manual showing step by step upgrade of slave from say 5.0 to 5.1. I read the official documentation but is full off watch-outs and not instructions. This is what I read http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/upgrading-from-previous-series.html

What I am after is a step-by-step upgrade instructions on how to do the upgrade in place without having to use mysqldump to export/import the database from 5.0 to 5.1 .
