Can't create or edit tables

All of a sudden I can't create or edit tables on my MySQL database. I've tried creating a new database and then creating a table...no dice...tried it through phpMyAdmin and through shell access...no dice...I'm stuck...
Here is the error I get:
ERROR 4: Error on close of './mktind/listings.frm' (Errcode: 49)
Any help would be greatly appreciated
