ODBC Connection From Windows to MySQL Databse in Redhat Linux fails

Hi;

I am new in using ODBC Driver for MySQL for Windows. I am using MySQL Connector/ODBC version 5.2 to connect to a MySQL database hosted on a Redhat Enterprise 6 server. The following configuration is used to connect:

TCP/IP: servername.fqdn or its IP address, Port: 3306
User: regular username or root
Password: correct pasword for user or root

I get the following error:

Connection Failed: [HY000][MySQL][ ODBC 5.1 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server "servername.fqdn" (10060).

However, the same configuration (Hostname/IP, user ID and password) works in NaviCat or RazorSQL application.

What am I doing wrong in Connector/ODBC? What can I do to make this connection work?
