Project Description
(Describe work assignment for contractor. Include project architecture, current state of project, time frames, current project status and nature of application)
The Contractor’s activities will be performed as part of a project to develop an automated network provisioning system for SS7, CCNS, IP, and Frame orders. A workflow system will be developed by a third party using Java/J2EE Architecture. The contractor will be responsible for all DBA duties for this project. The platform will be on Redhat Linux using Apache with a mysql database. The contractor will also be for new functionality and expansion of the mysql database. These activities will encompass participation in High Level Design, Detail Design, Coding process, and User Testing.
The project is scheduled to go to production by June 1st 2006.
Job Requirements:
Research and explore best database architecture (mysql cluster/max, etc.)
Make sure tables are optimized and analyzed to ensure the best performance possible
Have experience with the use of third party DB tools.
Participate in Schema design for the project.
Create Data migration scripts from spreadsheets Access database, FoxPro database etc.
Create and update Schema Drawings
Document Data Dictionary for the project
Keep the developers up to speed on the changes that occur with each release of the database.
Help communicate with the developers the impact changes have on the database. i.e.: adding columns and indexes. Be able to articulate to developers how certain changes would impact the DB results and performance.
Create/Maintain/Test MySQL master/slave replication.
Assist with backups of data.
Create a test routine to ensure backups are working in the result of a failure.
Aide in database creation/analysis.
Install, configure, manage, and maintain multiple MySQL servers and databases.
Perform database health monitoring and diagnostics
Research and recommend new technology, methodologies to help increase overall efficiencies.
Support internal company procedures used to support existing/new applications
Create a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) of hours for projects.
Create a Level of Effort (LOE) of hours for projects.
Creates and manages project plans
