how to run MySQL

I am new to databases and trying to learn. I have downloaded MySQL 4.1, to my computer platform windows XP. I do not know how to get it running so I can start programming data tables. I am guessing like any other programming language there is a text editer of some sort which allows me to do so, how do I get this accomlished? I tried looking for an executable file in the files that I downloaded but there were none. What is the next step for me to get MySQL running so I can make datatables?
