Where to start

I need some advice on where to start. I'm a novice to SQL and I use MS SQLSERVER at work. I want to be able to go thorugh some practice SQL tutorials at home but I don't have a RDMS software. I've downloaded and installed mysql-4.0.20d-win, mysql-administrator-1.0.12-win-noinstall, and mysql-query-browser-1.0.7-beta-win. But I can't get them to do anything. Are these even the correct files? I just want an environment similar to MS SQLSERVER that will allow me to create tables and queries. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.
