How to delete a table

I've been googling this for the last day and can't find the answer, maybe someone here can help me. I created a table called px_topics, but accidentally misspelled one of the fields. When I try to delete the table I get the error:
ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'px_topics' at line 1
How do I either delete the whole table or change the name of that one field? Thanks in advance.
