Thanks Barry. I did a basedir and looked into the resulting folder, but there were no signs of a my.cnf file!

I have no idea where this my.cnf file is located! (I've looked everywhere for it and there doesn't seem to be any such file!)

Also, I would like to use Navicat for MySQL (a MySQL client) to manage my databases and tables. Would you have any idea how I can access the databases located in /usr/local/mysql/data from Navicat for MySQL?

I don't understand why permission to acces the data folder is denied!
