Thanks for replying.
I have resolved the decimal issue with further research since you brought it to my attention - I have changed the fields to DECIMAL(5,2).
Thank you for your advice on BLOB - I believe I will need MEDIUMTEXT.
In answer to your question about the 'User' interface - yes I will be writing a windows application for my wife. I have had her collecting data in Microsoft Access Table (using the tables - no windows interface).
I am a very old programmer from VAX VMS and Unix with some Fortran & C - my son has been doing Java at University and he has sparked my interest in giving programming a go in a Windows environmnt, so will be giving Java a go.
I will get the revised tables and some Queries (for windows / reports) over the coming weekend.
