ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied

ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
I get this when i try to connect with no user name or password. Shouldn't I be able to connect anonymously? I also get it with user root so i cannot connect period. MySQL 5.6 on Windows 7
