Computer lost ability to connect to MySQL databases

I have a number of processes on server A that store and fetch intermediate data in MySQL databases housed in server B.
The other day, a MacAfee scanning process ran amok and consumed 100% of the CPU for hours on server A, and my processes on the server could not run.
We stopped the MacAfee process by rebooting the server. CPU usage has remained normal since then, but none of my applications can connect to the MySQL databases on server B.
I copied the application executables (exe's and dll's) to server C, and they run just fine there, albeit slowly because server C has much less total CPU power.

What can I do to restore the ability to connect to the MySQL databases from Server A? Thanks,
