How to connect to MySQL database on remote server through Mac OSX command line

Hi all,
I have started to learn to code php/sql. I have got MySQL database on remote server (gearhost.com) and would like to connect to it remotely via Mac OSX through Terminal (shell).

I have installed https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-osx-excerpt/5.7/en/osx-installation.html but do not know how to start it in Terminal.

Can you help?
