How to recover table from disk backups

Hello everyone.

I am running mysql 5.7.39 on MacOS Ventura and I lost some tables and I am trying to recover a table from disk backups.

I see online that you are supposed to do this with mysqlfrm. However, this tool is really old and I cannot get it to work on current versions of Mac, and it does not seem to work with newer versions of python.

I see online it says to use the newer mysql shell tools instead.

However, I cannot seem to find any instructions anywhere how to recover tables from frm and ibd files using the newer mysql shell.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

thanks
