Create Mysql file from excel file where columns have text with numerous commas preventing a clean csv file.

Need to create a mysql file from and excel file. Excel file has three of 9 columns with multiple proper names with commas between each name. Cannot create a clean csv file due to all those commas. Thinking i need to use odbc and write code to read the excel file and output the sql file. Does anyone have a better idea how to approach this?
