MySQL 8.0.35 was built with the compiler flag -g1 which greatly reduces the size of the binaries, at the cost of some debug info.
This was changed in 8.0.40. The downside is that the mysqld binary has grown from 188 to 468 Mb in size. So I think your best option is to download 8.0.40 instead.
