Problem in Greek charset

Hello all,

Data in GREEK inserted manually in tables, with phpmyadmin are correct and looking fine, but when retrieving with PHP, are displayed printed as ???????????????????(question marks) in the browser window.
Database charset is set to greek_general_ci which as I know is the ISO 8859-7 (please, correct me if I am wrong).
On web application the encoding is set to greek iso 8859-7.

Weird thing is that when I first setup the database I used the default charset (which was not greek). What happened then was that I inserted data from PHP and retrieved data in Greek properly, but then I noticed that data was stored in database in funny letters which was not greek. So I deleted the database and set it up again altering the charset and now I face the problem I describe above.

Any help or ideas would be really appreciated, thanks
