What's the best charset/collation for German users?
Hi,
Which concrete advantages and disadvantages does it have to use e.g. latin1_german_ci or utf8_general_ci for fields with German content.
I have been fighting with this topic since MySQL 4.1 was released. I thought that utf8_general_ci seems to be the better choice because everything worked fine for me until I realized lately that 'ΓΌ' is treated as 'u' in utf8.
So I'm asking myself what's really better for German content and for general purpose?
