What can also be done as mentioned previously is use special software for the import of CSV files. Talend Open Studio is an ETL tool and might be the right solution. Talend Open Studio http://www.talend.com/ is an open source ETL tool for integration software experts with a user-friendly GUI. It's adapted to non-technical users. Give it a try it will help you out.
