How is a federated table treated by replication?

I am considering using a federated table to update data in a diff mysql db on a different server - since concept of dblink (like in Oracle) is not provided.

This could be a great solution for me. However, I am wondering how this federated table defined as connection to the remote server/db will be treated by replication. I currently will be replicating the entire db to a second server.

Since the data is not really in this server, what does replication do with it?

My assumption is it is not considered for replication (as is my hope). Can anyone confirm this for me?

Thanks,
steve
