Partitioning across multiple drives

I would like to use MySQL partitioning to distribute a table across two physical hard drives in the hope of improving performance of concurrent writes to that table.

According to another thread in this forum it is not possible to specify the location of partitions when using InnoDB.

So my questions are:

1. Have I understood this correctly i.e. I must use MyISAM if I want to partition across multiple disks?
2. Are there plans to support paritioning of InnoDB tables with user-specified locations?

Thanks,
