Huge Disk Write while performing delete operation

Hi,

When I execute a delete query on a big innodb table (around 1 million rows), there were huge data write around 2GB occurred on the disk. The size of *idb file is around 830 MB. What could be the root cause for the huge disk write ? Is it due to index rearranging or anything else ?
