pluralization / depluralization / stemming

Is there any intention to add pluralization, depluralization and stemming abilities to MySQL's FULLTEXT search or is this intended to be left to external code?

We greatly appreciate that MySQL has FULLTEXT indexing on the one hand but on the other hand the lack of pluralization/de-pluralization and stemming renders it somewhat half-baked when implementing search engines for text.

There are pluralization and stemming routines out there for PHP which we are using, but does anyone know of *de-pluralization* routines/algorithms as well?
