Those who follow the mailing list have seen that we have released a new bundle package including all MySQL GUI tools for the MySQL 5.0 Server.
This is the first step of our Quality Initiative for the GUI tools this year. The goal of this initiative is to achieve a sustainable raise of quality in the tools, make them more stable and available for recent platforms.
The bundled package makes sure the tools work better together and are easier to download and install.
Further we improve our internal testing in two ways. First we make use of the excellent TUT Testing Framework (http://tut-framework.sourceforge.net/) for unit tests. Second we have developed an automated, cross platform GUI testing suite called TestMonkey which will be released as an GPL Open Source project on
http://forge.mysql.com/ in the near future. TestMonkey will be used for interface tests and bug verification on Windows (Delphi), Linux (GTK) and OS X (Cocoa).
To improve our debugging and bug fixing speed on Windows we have switched to the BDS, the latest Delphi/C++ IDE from Borland.
For all these reasons we have increased the version number of all tools by one minor digit. Please note that the increased version number does not mean new features in this case (only for Administrator & Migration Toolkit) but only improved quality.
Please feel free to check out our GUI road map for the rest of the year to see when the new versions are available in GA.

Last but not least I would like to thank all our users for the great support so far and large number of excellent bug reports submitted for the tools. This is outstanding, even in the open source community.
One last word to the developers who have been waiting for updates on the Workbench project for so long and now see the major development postponed to Q4 again. Workbench is an extreme important project to us and although we are very sad about the delay ourself we saw the opportunity to spend a full quarter on it once the other tools are improved.
Thanks for your attention,
Michael Zinner, Team Lead, Developer Tools
