Thanks for your reply Nevin!

But... I don't seem to have a /var/lib/mysql dir...

maya:/usr/local# cd /var/lib/mysql
bash: cd: /var/lib/mysql: No such file or directory

I have installed it under /usr/local/mysql with permissions exactly the same as i had with 5.0.27 and before... With 5.0.27 i don't have a /var/lib/mysql either.

What's going on? What have I done wrong? I don't get it any more :(
