Changing the default MySQL settings

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if I can set a configuration parameter so that I can keep the indexes and Data files on seperate volumes?

e.g. vol1 for Data and Vol2 for indexes and possibly Vol3 for tran logs


Can it be done?
