Getting "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error 0" on Win2k install.

Installing MySQL Server 4.1 on Windows 2000 Pro. Receiving "Cannot create Windows Service for MySQL.Error 0". Have tried uninstalling and removing all registry references except the legacy section. The very first install did work - then problems with connecting via php caused me to start a new install of MySQL, and now cannot get past this error. Any assistance will be truly and muchly appreciated...thanks, James
