I got a similar message, and permitted the installer to attempt the fix. It downloaded and installed VS 2010! Note 2010! and then proceeded to completion satisfactorily. I notice in control panel programs and features that C++ redistributables for 2010 and 2012 are now installed, as is VS 2010 Tools for office runtime.
Incidentally, I only installed 5.7 because the 8.0 install failed to complete, hanging on the start server
