Oooh fabulous! I'll look forward to reviewing/implementing that. MERGE has been very, very useful in our setup allowing me to manipulate tables & database (to a certain extent) without having to recode our applications.

Yes, my tests showed that SELECTS on an ARCHIVE table ran reasonably quickly on millions of records, even though there were no indexes to help optimize the query.
