Hello
Im a newbie to this.
I ve downloaded the source code for mysql 5.1. Complied and installed it on my Debian Lenny system
But when I run the following command
bin/mysql_install_db to create the mySQL data directory and initialize the grant tables
I get the following error message
FATAL ERROR: Could not find mysqld
The following directories were searched:
/usr/libexec
/usr/sbin
/usr/bin
If you compiled from source, you need to run 'make install' to
copy the software into the correct location ready for operation.
If you are using a binary release, you must either be at the top
level of the extracted archive, or pass the --basedir option
pointing to that location.
Ive follwed the instructions to the letter on the webpage.
Any idea what is causing this. I have ran make install serveral times
