MySQL 5.0 Reference Manual No Search or Index

Good day,

My locally installed MySQL 5.0 Reference Manual (Windows > Start > Programs >...> MySQL Manual) has an empty Index tab, plus the Search feature is not working at all. I've tried doing a "Repair" on MySQL in the Control Panel, plus some terribly clever things like deleting C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\Docs\manual.chm and letting MySQL rebuild it. I've also tried downloading the latest .CHM files and replacing the existing one with these downloaded files. That didn't work well at all. Seems like these .CHMs are handled differently than others in Windows, and I'm not quite following what's happening here. Help and clarification on how MySQL handles .CHMs in general and how to fix my problem in particular?
