Howto Request: Sysadmin turned DBA (doh!)
My company, in its infinite wisdom, just laid off our dba, and saddled me with his work. I'm a tcp/ip kinda guy, and have no idea what I should be doing day to day. What should I look for in the logs? Table maintenance? How do I know the backup _really_ worked?
I'm just overwhelmed and don't know where to begin.
