Docker and MySQL

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a concept for deploying and managing MySQL databases.

So in my theory I deploy MySQL instances with Docker and map the data path from the container to a path on the host machine. To backup all of the data I just docker commit and docker push and all of the data should be safe. Furthermore I am able to reproduce the complete database everywhere.

Am I missing something or can this concept work for real world applications?

Thank you in advance!
