Did you update that MySQL installation from a previous one or is it a fresh install?
If you upgraded from a previous one, did you run the mysql_system_tables_fix.sql script found in C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\share as often until it passes through?
If your mysql schema is not fixed, the MySQL Server will crash, and that is the reason the connection is lost.
Please try to fix your installation and try again.
