Hey Tim,

as this is the forum for MySQL Workbench related questions I can only answer your second question. For the others I recommend to ask in the specialized forums for replication, cluster etc.

When it comes to Workbench in your scenario then I don't see any special requirements or tricks that could help to distribute your data. WB is a tool to design a schema and for your task this would be the same on all MySQL instances. So once you have designed your schema (just as you would for any single machine) you then would implement it on all the other boxes. And that's it from the point of WB.
