Thank you for responding, Mike,

Yes, I agree--it is very weird. To make it even more weird, I did much experimenting last night, and found that the "paste" problem seemed to occur whenever I opened a browser (Chrome, Firefox, and IE). Open a brower, the "paste" would not work--close the browser, the "paste" would start working again. Now that is weird! (Although at the end of the night, after browser open for a couple of hours, turning off the browser did not cure the "paste" problem.)

I have looked a the logs--not sure if you meant the "sql_actions_unconnedted.log" or "wb.log". The "sql..." log seemed to just show SQL statements that I ran during my tutuorials last night--didn't see anything that seemed related there. The "wb.log" appears to show only info from my Workbench startup this afternoon. Don't see anything there from yesterday, although I don't see any datestamp in the log, only timestamps. I don't see anything suspect--but don't really know what I am looking for.

As I have mentioned before, this is happening on two standalone installations of MySQL--one on my desktop (Win 7 Pro), and one on my laptop (Win 8.1), so the problem is not related to just one machine. Maybe I did something wrong during the installation on the two machines. But, all else seems to be OK--just the "paste" problem

I would appreciate any ideas you may have--uninstall/reinstall a different version of MySQL; adjust any settings you may think of; any ideas would be appreciated.

I am a programmer who has worked quite a bit with SQL Server, but would like to migrate to MySQL. But is quite a handicap when I can't cut/copy-and-paste into a query window.

Thank you so much... Just let me know what you would like me to try. Would you like me to send you a copy of the log file?

Thank you.
